Flat Stanley's trip to San Antonio

I started my San Antonio trip at Cousin Ali's house.

Here I am with Ali and her dog Chloe. (She also has another dog, Macey, and a cat, Pepper, but they wouldn't hold still for the picture)

At the Playground

Ali wanted to show me her school playground (she's in Kindergarten this year).

Lunch!

After visiting the playground, we were HUNGRY! We headed to Mya's, Ali's favorite restaraunt to grab lunch before we really got the tour started.

Ali had a Tamale...

... and Greg had a Chile Relleno (that's a big poblano pepper stuffed with beef and cheese, then fried. mmmmmm.....)

A Quick Trip to the Library

Greg and Ali hadn't read my story, so we took a quick trick the library so they could learn all about me.

We found my book and gave it a read before heading downtown to see the sights.

Tower of the Americas

After the library, the first official stop on my San Antonio tour was the Tower of the Americas. It was built in 1968 as the centerpiece of the World's Fair. It's 750 feet tall, and has an observation deck on top.

We took a long elevator ride to the observation deck in the tower. Here are some pictures from the top...

The Alamodome is a large facility that used for football games, concerts, the circus, and other larger events. The San Antonio Spurs used to play here, but they moved to the AT&T Center in 2002.

It's windy up here!

We checked out the tower gift shop after we came back down.

Fountains and Waterfalls

The Tower of the Americas is in Hemisfair park. After our trip up the tower, we checked out some of the cool waterfalls and fountains in the park.

Ali had a lot of fun playing in the rain fountains.

After getting all wet, we lay down on the sidewalk to warm up and dry off...

... and then we got wet again! Ahhhh, I'm upside down!

Sculptures and Statues

There are lots of cool sculptures and statues in Hemisfair park...

And a pretty neat playground, too

The River Walk

Next we started making our way down to the river walk.

Here's one of the many tour boats that cruise the River Walk. The drivers regale the passengers with lots of interesting facts about San Antonio and the River Walk.

Another picture of the River Walk. Greg and Ali like to hang out at the quiet end.

Dinner time already! We wento Rio Rio! on the River Walk. We got a great table on the second level patio.

Ducks!

The Alamo and the Menger Hotel

Our last stops of the day wer the Alamo and the Menger Hotel, which are right next to each other.

The Menger Hotel is over 150 years old (it was built in 1858) and is often called "The Most Haunted Hotel in Texas." Several presidents, actors, and other notables have stayed at the Menger Hotel.

Of course we had to visit the Alamo. Unfortunately we had so much fun at Hemisfair Park and the River Walk that the Alamo was closed by the time we got there (and I was really hoping to check out the basement!). At least we got a shot of me outside.
